Tobi Johnson, President

Tobi has over 25 years experience creating, developing, and managing both small and large-scale social sector programs in the arts, employment & training, human services, and community health benefits counseling.  Throughout her career she has worked in virtually every level of nonprofit work -- from volunteer to entry-level direct service staff to senior-level director.  A few years ago, she decided to shift gears and started her own consulting business, now sharing her ideas and inspiration with nonprofit leaders across the country.

Tobi understands the real-world challenges nonprofits face in bringing about building robust community support because she’s been there.  She firmly believes that very organization has the capacity to connect with and engage caring and committed volunteers.  All they need is the right tools, training, tactics, and little tenacity.

Tobi has a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from the University of Washington and a Master’s Degree in Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Tobi is also a proud volunteer and board member of the Tennessee Health Care Campaign, helping spread the word about health reform and its benefits for our communities.

Liz Tredennick, Subject Matter Expert

After inheriting a dynamic personality and a great voice from her mother, Liz headed out from college into radio and television news in the late 1970’s and 80’s, when women were rare in the world of the broadcast news.  She transitioned into public relations and began working with senior citizen organizations in the late 80’s.  Along the way, she was involved in chamber of commerce leadership programs, interpersonal and business skills training, program administration, and marketing.

In 2005, she had the opportunity to administer the Colorado SHIP Medicare counseling and Senior Medicare Patrol fraud prevention programs.  After five years, she left that office to work more directly with Colorado Medicare beneficiaries as a counselor, presenter, and trainer of volunteers with Centura Health in Denver.  Liz is a consummate public speaker, with an ability to simplify difficult concepts and connect with audiences to put them at ease.  She is excited to join Tobi Johnson & Associates and share her training and leadership development expertise to build groundbreaking volunteer training and tools.

Kierra Warren, Training Development Intern

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Kierra is the eldest for four children and is a proud University of Tennessee VOLunteer.  Kierra will be graduating in May of 2012 with a major in Human Resource Management with collateral in International Business.  Upon graduation, Kierra plans to get her Master’s in Business Administration to prepare herself for a career as an international human resource management consultant.

Outside of classes, Kierra enjoys being of service to the campus and the community through organizations such as the Minority Achievement Program and The Salvation Army.  Kierra is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and an INROADS Alumnus.  She has interned with Deloitte Services and the Boys and Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley over the last two years.

Her education, keen interest in the dynamics of employee relations, and experience interning and volunteering for nonprofits made Kierra a natural choice to join Tobi Johnson & Associates as our very first intern.  Go Vols!
